What’s For Supper?

What’s for Supper?

On the days mom would make my favorite dinner, I knew immediately what we were having for supper. The mixture of flour and herbs filled the air. The sound of the butter crackling in the oven caught my attention. Flour dusted the countertops, and potatoes boiled on the stove. When mom fixed my favorite meal, she would fix fried chicken, potato salad, and corn on the cob. Sometimes she would add macaroni salad to the mix and often she included a large leafy green side salad too. But when she made her fried chicken, everyone came running. It was the perfect summertime meal.

Dinners at home were the best. We would all sit around the kitchen table. With my parents, brothers and I, dinner was never a quiet affair. We shared the escapades of our day while one sibling or another tried putting their spin on the daily adventure. Mom and dad would laugh while asking questions. Those moments were sweet times.

  1. I copied your chicken recipe cause dang that sounds delicious and something I can do. I love potato salad but we’ve sworn off breads and starches. I can’t say I miss them, although when it comes to potato and macaroni salad, the summer will seem long without them. lol
