Antoine Leduc

Antoine LeDuc est né en 1645 à Louvetôt, Rouen, Normandie, France, de Jean LeDuc et de Jeanne Françoise Désobrie.

En 1656, de Dieppe il se dirige vers Québec sur le St-Sébastien, un vieux vaisseau de guerre de 28 canons. Le 3 septembre 1656, il signe une entente avec le notaire Guillaume Aucourt à Québec en foi de quoi il s’engage à servir Pierre Denys Sieur de la Ronde, pour une année.

En 1667, Antoine travaille comme domestique chez Claude Herlin, à la seigneurie du Cap-de-la-Madeleine.

En Octobre 1670, il développe pendant trois ans avec son compagnon Jean Harel une ferme qui, aujourd’hui, est devenue l’usine d’eau lourdes à Gentilly. Cette terre était dans le temps une propriétée de Michel Pelletier de la Prade, seigneur de Côte St-Michel (Gentilly).

En 1671, il épouse Jeanne Faucheux, fille de Noël Faucheux et de Jacquette Trion de Huisseau-sur-Mauves, diocèse d’Orléans, Orléanais, France. Jeanne était une des 800 jeunes filles françaises, appelées “filles du Roi”, qui ont acceptées de se rendre en Nouvelle-France pour marier un des colons déjà sur place.

Dans l’année 1673, l’intendant Jean Talon accorde une concession de St-Charles-des-Roches (Grondines) à Antoine qui, un peu plus tard, déménage dans une autre concession à St-Anne-de-la-Pérade vers l’entrée du Rapide-sud.

Antoine Le Duc et Jeanne Faucheux eurent deux fils Jean-Baptiste et Pierre-Charles.

Jean-Baptiste, marié à Angélique Gaudry en 1705, prit la relève à St-Anne-de-la-Pérade et devint le père des Le Duc de la région en donnant naissance à cinq enfants.

Pierre-Charles, marié à Magdeleine Vielle en 1710, déménagea à Verchères pour travailler chez le père de Madeleine Jaret, la seigneuresse de Ste-anne. Ils furent les parents de dix enfants qui se sont eéablis au sud de Montréal.

Antoine était plus un courreur de bois qu’un fermier. En 1682, il vendit ses animaux, paya ses dettes et rédigea son contrat de mariage à Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade. Trois mois plus tard, en mai 1682, il entreprit avec cinq de ses compagnons une excursion de traite de fourrures vers les Grands Lacs. À l’été 1682, il était du groupe des trois français qui ont été attaqués près de Toronto par des Iroquois. Depuis, nous ne trouvons plus aucune trace d’Antoine, notre ancêtre.

On 3 September 1656, he signs an agreement with the notary Guillaume Aucourt to Quebec in faith of what he s’committed to serving Pierre Denys Sieur de the Round, for a year. In 1667, Antoine worked as a domestic at Claude Herlin, in the seigneury of Cap-de-la-Madeleine.

In October 1670, it develops during three years with his companion Jean Harel a farm which, today, has become the water plant Lourdes at Gentilly. This land was in the time a propriétée of Michel Pelletier of the Prade, Lord of Coast St-Michel (Gentilly).

In 1671, he married Jeanne Faucheux, daughter of Noel Faucheux and Jacquette Trion of Huisseau-on-mauve, diocese of Orleans, Orléanais, France. Jeanne was one of the 800 young French girls, called “King’s Daughters”, who have accepted to go in New France to marry one of the settlers already on the spot.

Antoine Leduc and Jeanne Faucheux had two sons Jean-Baptiste and Pierre-Charles.

Jean-Baptiste, married to Angélique Gaudry in 1705, took the notes in St-Anne-de-la-Pérade and became the father of Leduc of the region by giving birth to five children.

Pierre-Charles, married to Magdeleine Vielle in 1710, moved to Verchères to work among the father of Madeleine Jaret, the seigneuresse of Ste-Anne. They were the parents of ten children who are eéablis south of Montreal.

Antoine was more a runner of wood that a farmer. In 1682, he sold his animals, Paya, its debts and wrote his contract of marriage to Ste-Anne-de-la-Pérade. Three months later, in May 1682, he undertook with five of his companions an excursion of the trafficking of furs to the Great Lakes. In the summer of 1682, it was the group of three French who were attacked near Toronto by the Iroquois. Since then, we no longer find any trace of Antoine, our ancestor.
