Joseph LaDuke: Husband, Father, Farmer, and Soldier
On October 3, 1827, in Saint Jean Baptiste De Rouville, Quebec, Canada, Joseph Leduc was born to Marie Eulalie Chicoine and Joseph Leduc. He was the second son to be born. An older brother, Joseph Damien Leduc was born on 8 Aug 1826. Sadly, he died just nine days later and was buried on 15 Aug 1826. The family lived in Saint Jean Baptiste de Rouville until about 1839, for his youngest sister Angelique was born 1 July 1839 in Detroit, Michigan. That was the year his mother was said to have died. When the last bell rang in June, it didn’t just mean I would have three glorious summers off from school. It meant that the following Monday the neighborhood swimming pool would open, and I would spend most of my summer swimming and playing in chlorine-filled waters with little brothers and childhood friends. Love in Action
For this week’s theme, occupation was the winner. In my mind, I envisioned ancestral stories or favorite vocations. But my friend that also blogs shared a tale of incredible compassion and kindness within the workforce. His story demonstrated love in action when someone else was in need. Please read “Jacquie’s Story,” by Gary A Wilson. Continue reading “Love in Action”
Extra! Extra! The Latest on Joseph LaDuke
While scrolling through old newspapers for family history, I always felt as though I transported back through time.
