Crossing the River

One of my favorite old-time photos shows my great, great grandfather, William Strassburg, crossing a river on a wagon with a pair of horses. No name or date appears on the back. However, I know my grandfather lived in Gunnison, Colorado for many years, and the scenery does resemble the Western Slope of Colorado. Weathered

I always sort of swooned at the sight of the classic barn structures in central and northern Minnesota, where everything seemed rustic and weathered and made to age gracefully.

When walking through old towns, the weathered buildings and board sidewalks offer a glimpse into a time when life seemed slower and easier.  Often I wonder if I were born about a century to late…

My Photo of the Year for 2017

My cheeky sidekicks have brought me so much joy this year!  This sweet little pair makes me laugh, and they brighten my world.   I sure do love my little furbabies.  And so did everyone else, for they received the most likes on all the photos that I entered this year in The Daily Post Photo Challenges.

The Royal Gorge Bridge

Near Canon City, Colorado, the Royal Gorge Bridge sits on a 360 acre parcel of land that attracts tourists from around the world.  This bridge crosses a gorge that is over 950 feet above the Arkansas River.  Until 2001, this bridge was the highest bridge in the world.  Continue reading “The Royal Gorge Bridge” →
