My Tales — A Writing Challenge to Preserve Family Memories
Who wants to preserve family memories for those who follow in our footsteps?
As I reflect on this past year of my writing challenge, 52 Ancestors in 52 Weeks, I have a sense of pride and a sense of accomplishment. For once this challenge ends, I will have 52+ stories about my family. Through this writing adventure, I have discovered so much about my ancestors and even a little about myself, and I hate to see it end! Now, I have created a new writing challenge for 2018, but this time, I believe writers should also include more personal narratives to add their family history. To keep me moving forward on this journey, I have started a new writing challenge called My Tales. It would be fun to have family bloggers join in with this writing adventure. Who is with me? As I considered my blessings, my family always comes to my mind, especially when I think about my daughter, Leslie. My girl has forever maintained an amazing spirit and such a loving heart. She has always tried to help those around her, and she sometimes has taken on too much extra work because she often forgets that “no” is part of her vocabulary. Singing with Mama
“I’m a lonely little petunia in an onion patch….
When I was a little girl, my room was off the kitchen, so I often heard my mom bustling around the kitchen in the early hours before she would wake us up for school. While making the morning coffee and preparing for the day, she often sang her favorite childhood songs. Her humming and her singing were such a great start to my day. It was like burrowing under a favorite comforter while knowing some time remained to enjoy its soothing warmth. It was comforting and cozy. Continue reading “Singing with Mama”
