Roots run deep in this family,

A cord that binds each generation to the next.

A spirit of the familiar that offers wisdom and strength.

Life lessons that tender faith and aspiration.

Forgiveness from past indignities; or at least

The courage to stand one more time—

Even when pain and fear steps to the forefront.

An uneven path to the past,

That weaves kindred hearts and reminds

Where we have been and offers guidance to future endeavors.

It’s the laughter of our children.

It’s our hopes, our dreams, and our wishes for new beginnings.

It’s the love and comfort from where we once started.

It’s the confidence in where we are today.

It’s the prospect for all we desire

For the future of those we hold so dear.
