Surrendering sounds too easy –
To just give in – once again –
And believe the fallacies – the pretenses
for all eternity –
To hope beyond measure that this time
the words are pure
that tenderness will take flight and fare
for the better
that not one will break the bond of innocence
when love believes that hope will sustain
and bridge eternity for a moment such as this.
Today’s poetry challenge suggested the prompt “surrender,” written in free verse.
