Marie Rollet: Pioneer of Quebec

Upon her arrival, Marie toiled alongside her husband and helped care for the sick and tend to their farm. She was also interested in the indigenous people of the area and worked to improve the relationship between the native people and the settlers.

  1. Fascinating!!!! I ran across your blog while researching family history. I am going to Quebec City in a few weeks for a family vaca and we are interested in finding historical places to visit that our family resided in. We are also related to Abraham Martin, Zacharie Cloutier, Claude Poulain, Francois Mercier , Robert Paret, Francoise LeHoux.

Don’t know if you live in Quebec or not but I would love to find out how to access these places. Do you have any ideas?

So glad to have read what an amazing woman we came from!!! Love this

  2. Marie Rollet is my 11x Great Grandmother. About 7 years ago I did a search online for her and just happened to find a book about her life in a library in Paris France, with a copyright of 1928. I ordered immediately and received it! It’s a paperback, about 6 1/2 x 10″ written in french. It has beautiful line drawings all through the 156 pages depicting her life with the Nation’s People. It was a children’s book honoring her as a hero. The title is “Les Premiers Colons Franco–Canadiens Marie Rollet” Wow here’s one on EBAY right now! https://www.ebay.fr/itm/325545543491

I’ve also collected many stamps and First Day Covers of Louis Hebert, a 400th Anniversary First French Settlement in North America medallion, and a mortise and pestle dedicated to him as a pharmacist. There’s lots out there to be found honoring these two great people. Just put their names in search and see what you can find. My grandchildren are so impressed.
