“Most of us have nicknames—annoying, endearing, embarrassing.
But what about your true name?
It is not necessarily your given name. But it is the one to which you are most eager to respond when called.
Ever wonder why?
Your true name has the secret power to call you.”
― Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration
So love this story! As Papa to my little sweet granddaughter, my heart always melts. And don’t even get me started on the unsolicited “I love you, Papa!” ;-)))

What a sweet story! Thank you so much for sharing this, Ann Marie!
This reminds me of one of my favorite memories. When my younger child was three years old, the preschool teacher asked each child to name his/her family members for a mini family tree.
Of course, the staff already knew my child’s older sibling who had been a student there, so that left Mommy and Daddy. Daddy’s name was easy-peasy, but when asked what my name was, the reply was, “Honey.”
Knowing that is not my name, the teacher asked, “Why do you think your mommy’s name is Honey?” The response: “Because that’s what Daddy calls her.” 🙂
