Helping others discover their roots
“There are two lasting bequests we can give our children: One is roots, the other is wings.” Teaching children values and giving them the opportunity to excel is essential to good parenting. However, I feel I must also provide my children (and myself) insight into the ones who came before us: our ancestors whose lives and stories have shaped us into who we are. This is my journey; these are their stories…

I’m having a senior moment here. Per your theme for this month, I have a story that fits well but I think I shared it with you last year already. I’ve been looking forward to reprising it for this month because it has several layers of my being thankful. I can’t find any clue that I did, so please take a look when you can and let me know if you’ve already seen it. I (still) call it; “Of Crashes and Christmas”.

Oh I love your story! And I will share it! I used to shop at the World Market too. And I remember buying my grandmother a carved wooden owl that she loved. Your stories always seem to take me back home to California.

I have been thinking a lot about this month’s theme, gratitude, and realize that I have so much for which to be thankful.
I am grateful for the phenomenal women in my family whom I will always admire: https://kindredconnection.wordpress.com/2011/04/13/phenomenal_women/.
I am thankful for my life and the people who love me: https://kindredconnection.wordpress.com/2017/08/29/half-past-life/.
And finally, I am grateful for my mother’s persistent patience as she raised me to adulthood: https://kindredconnection.wordpress.com/2019/08/18/miracle-we-made-it/.
